7-109.

This problem is a checkpoint for area and perimeter of polygons. It will be referred to as Checkpoint 7B.

For each figure below, find the area and the perimeter.

  1. A rectangle: width is 8 centimeters and length is 5 centimeters.

  1. A triangle with a base of 23 in, left side 11 in, and right side 17 inches.  Two internal triangles are created by a line segment, of 7.7 in, drawn from the upper vertex, to the base, at right angles.

  1. A parallelogram, slanted right, with bottom, 27 cm, Left, 18 cm.  A right triangle is created by a line segment of 17 cm, drawn from the top left vertex, to the bottom side, at a 90 degree angle to the bottom.

  1. A trapezoid with horizontal, parallel bases: bottom is 20 m, and top is 10 m, and non parallel legs, of 9 m, and 12 meters. A dashed line, labeled 8.8 m, perpendicular to both bases, connects the bases.

Check your answers by referring to the Checkpoint 7B materials materials located at the back of your book.

Ideally, at this point you are comfortable working with these types of problems and can solve them correctly.
