Use the pyramid shown at right to answer the questions below.  

A hexagon, with all sides the same, is the base. Isosceles triangles, whose bottom edges share, the edges of the hexagon, slant up so that all their top vertices met at the top of the pyramid.

  1. If the pyramid were sliced vertically, what would the resulting cross sections look like? Sketch them.

  2. If the pyramid were sliced horizontally, what would the resulting cross section look like? Sketch it.

    Use the base as an example of a horizontal slice. What is the name of this shape?
