AC is a straight segment as shown in the diagram below. If the distance between points A and C is miles, determine the distance between points A and B.

A line segment, A C, is divided into 2 sections with dividing point, B. The section, A B, is labeled, 5 x minus 2. The section, B C, is labeled, 2 x + 6.
