This problem is a checkpoint for angle relationships in geometric figures. It will be referred to as Checkpoint 3.

For each diagram, solve for the variable and state the relationship(s) you used.

  1. Two angles along a straight line are 4, x, minus 3 degrees, and 3, x plus 1 degree.

  1. Two increasing parallel lines are cut by a decreasing transversal. On the top intersection, The left exterior angle is 5, x, plus 6 degrees. On the bottom intersection, the right exterior angle is 2, x, plus 21 degrees.

  1. A triangle with the following interior angles: 4 X + 28 degrees, X + 19 degrees, and 3 X + 13 degrees.

  1. A right triangle with an internal angle 40 degrees. The leg opposite the 40 degree angle is extended and the exterior angle is 4, x, minus 10 degrees.

Check your answers by referring to the Checkpoint 3 materials located at the back of your book.

Ideally, at this point you are comfortable working with these types of problems and can solve them correctly. If you feel that you need more confidence when solving these types of problems, then review the Checkpoint 3 materials and try the practice problems provided. From this point on, you will be expected to do problems like these correctly and with confidence.

Answers and extra practice are located in the back of your printed textbook or in the Reference Tab of your eBook. If you have an eBook for Int2, login and then click the following link: Checkpoint 3: Angle Relationships in Geometric Figures
