4-142.

Find reasonable equations for each graph below.

  1. Periodic curve, x axis scaled from negative 2 pi to 2 pi, 3 visible turning point, at (negative 2 pi, comma negative 3), (0, comma negative 1), & (2 pi, comma negative 3), going through possible points (negative pi, comma negative 1) & (pi, comma negative 1).

    This is the cosine function:
    1. Where is the midline?
    2. What is the amplitude?
    3. Identify the period and calculate the frequency.

Substitute the information in the general form for the cosine.

  1. Periodic curve, x axis scaled from negative 2 pi to 2 pi, 4 visible turning points, first at (negative 3 halves pi, comma negative 1), second at (negative 1 half pi, comma 3), y intercept at 1.

    This is the sine function:
    1. Where is the midline?
    2. What is the amplitude?
    3. Identify the period and calculate the frequency.

Substitute the information in the general form for the sine.
