The band students at Tolt Jr. High and Maywood Middle School have been invited to participate in the Evergreen Music Festival in Seattle. Each group has decided to have a car wash to raise money to pay for the trip. Use the graph at right to answer the following questions.
Which school washed more cars? How do you know?
The horizontal axis refers to the number of cars washed. The school farther along that axis is the one that washed more cars.
Which school has raised the most money so far? How do you know?
As in part (a), you will need to compare the dots' placement on the graph. In this problem, pay attention to the vertical axis, since this one refers to dollars earned.
Additional Challenge: Find how much each school is charging to wash a car. Show your work to justify your answer.
To determine how much money each school has earned, you need to divide the amount of money earned by the number of cars washed.
