5-27.

On your own graph paper, draw a rectangle with a width of $6$ cm and a height of $8$ cm.

1. Draw a similar rectangle that is enlarged to $300\%$.

To enlarge a rectangle to $300\%$ of its original size is to enlarge by a ratio of $3:1$.

The width is $18$ cm and the height is $24$ cm.

2. Draw a similar rectangle with lengths that are $\frac { 2 } { 3 }$ of the original lengths.

• What is two thirds of $6$? What is two thirds of $8$? These will be the lengths of the sides of the new rectangle.
