3-60.

Solve each equation below for $x$. Then check your solutions.

1.  $\frac{x}{8\ }=\frac{3}{4}$

Multiply both sides by $8$.

$8\cdot\frac{\textit{x}}{8}=\frac{3}{4}\cdot8$

$x=\frac{24}{4}$

$x=6$

1.  $\frac{2}{5}=\frac{x}{40}$

What can you multiply both sides of the equation by to eliminate the denominators?

1.  $\frac{1}{8}=\ \frac{x}{12}$

$x=1.5$

1.  $\frac{x}{10}=\frac{12}{15}$

Use the method from part (a)
