Find the slope of the line through the points (6, −8) and (3, −4).

1. Find the equation of the line through $\left(6, −8\right)$ and $\left(3, −4\right)$.

Use the slope you calculated and one of the given points in the equation $y = mx + b$ to solve for $b$.

2. Is the point $\left(−3, 4\right)$ on the line you found in part (a)? How can you tell?

• Substitute $−3$ for $x$ and $4$ for y into your equation.
