9-70.

Represent the solutions to the inequalities below on a number line. 9-70 HW eTool (CPM).

1. $3x−2<10$

Find the boundary point.
$3x−2=10$
$3x=12$
$x=4$

Test numbers on both sides of the boundary point.

$3(0)−2<10\ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ 3(5)−2<10$
$0−2<10\ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ 15−2<10$
$−2<10\ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ 13<10$
True                                 False

1. $5x−1−3x\ge4x+5$

Follow the steps in part (a).

1. $2(x+2)>10−x$

Isolate $x$ on one side and then find the boundary point.

Follow the steps in part (a).

1. $4(x−3)+5\ge−7$

Follow the steps in part (c).
