Solve each linear equation. Check your solutions.

1. $- 2 x - 3 = 3$

• Add 3 to both sides.

−2x − 3 = 3
+3 +3
−2x = 6

Divide both sides by −2

${\frac{-2x}{-2} = \frac{6}{-2}}$

x = −3

1. $7 + 2 x = 4 x - 3$

• Add 3 to both sides.

7 + 2x = 4x − 3
+3 +3
10 + 2x = 4x

Subtract 2x from both sides.

10 + 2x = 4x
-2x -2x
10 = 2x

Divide both sides by 2.

$\text{ \frac{10}{2} =\frac{2x}{2}}$

x = 5

1. $6 x - 10 = - 8 + 3 x$
