What are the points of intersection of the lines below? Use any method. Write your solutions as a point $\left(x, y\right)$ .

$y = −x + 8$
$y = x − 2$
Hint (a):
One way is to graph the two lines and find the point where the lines intersect.
Step (a):
If you use substitution, be careful when distributing the negative.
$2x − \left(−4x + 2\right) = 10$
$2x + 4x − 2 = 10$
$6x = 12$
Solve for $y$ .

$2x − y = 10$
$y = −4x + 2$
