The table below shows data for winter temperatures in Urbana, IL. Below, you will brainstorm questions that could be answered using the data. 

  1. Create a question that could be answered by using all of the data.

    Try thinking about mean, median and range. How could you write a question using one of these concepts?

  2. Create a question that could be answered using just some of the data.

    You could use the question for part (a), but specify a certain period of time which you are considering.

    Example question: What was the average temperature in Urbana, Illinois, from 1990 to 1999?

  3. How could you organize the data to answer your questions? Write your answer using complete sentences.

    Think back to how you have done past problems similar to the ones you just created. You could try making a histogram or making a table of data.
