1-83.

A rectangular park is yards on one side and yards on the other.

  1. If Debbie walks around the park two times, how far does she walk? Sketch a figure and show your work.

First, find the distance around the park (remember it is a rectangle). It will help to draw the figure.

The distance around the park is yards.

Now, find the distance Debbie walks. Remember that she walks around the park twice.

  2. If Debbie wanted to walk yards, how many times would she have to walk around the park?

Divide the total distance Debbie wishes to walk by the answer to Step 1 in part (a).

Walking around the park times gets Debbie yards. Debbie needs to walk around the park times.
