5-126.

A radio station is giving away free t-shirts to students in local schools. It plans to give away shirts at Big Sky Middle School and shirts at High Peaks High School. Big Sky Middle School has students, and students attend High Peaks High School.

  1. What is the probability of getting a t-shirt if you are a student at the middle school?

Remember, probability can be expressed by this fraction:

  2. What is the probability of getting a t-shirt if you are a student at the high school?

    See part (a).

  3. Are you more likely to get a t-shirt if you are a student at the high school, or at the middle school?

Convert each fraction to a percent. The school with the higher percentage means you are more likely to get a t-shirt if you are a student at that school.
