Solve each of the following proportions.

1. $\frac { x } { 24 } = \frac { 30 } { 36 }$

Before doing anything else, simplify the second fraction.

Use the Fraction Busters Method to simplify.

1. $\frac { 5 } { 7 } = \frac { x } { 3 }$

$3 \cdot 7 \cdot \frac{5}{7} = \frac{{\it x}}{3} \cdot 3 \cdot 7$

$3\cdot 5={\it x} \cdot 7$

$15 = 7{\it x}$

$x = \frac{15}{7} = 2 \; \frac{1}{7}$

1. If Joan read $75$ pages in $4$ hours how long will it take her to read $250$ pages?

Write and solve an equation using equivalent ratios.

$13 \; \frac{1}{3}\text{ hours}$
