5-7.

Solve each of the following equations for $x$. Then check each solution.  Homework Help ✎

1. $\frac { x } { 16 } = \frac { 7 } { 10 }$

Multiply both sides by $16$

$16\left( \frac{x}{16}\right) =16\left( \frac{7}{10}\right)$

Simplify.

$x=11.2$

1. $\frac { 6 } { 15 } = \frac { 3 } { x }$

Multiply both sides by the common denominator, $15x$.

$6x=45$

Divide both sides by $6$.

$x=7.5$

1. $\frac { 2 x } { 5 } = \frac { 12 } { 8 }$

Follow the steps in part (b).

1. $- 8 = \frac { 2 } { x }$

Multiply both sides by $x$.

$x=−0.25$
