$\frac { 7 y } { 8 } - \frac { 3 y } { 5 } = \frac { 11 } { 2 }$
Step 1 (a):
Multiply the entire equation by a common multiple of the denominators to get rid of the fractions.
$35y−24y=220$
Step 2 (a):
Combine like terms.
$11y=220$
Answer (a):
$y=20$

$\frac { a + 4 } { 3 } - \frac { a } { 7 } = \frac { a + 7 } { 5 }$
