Which of the shapes below appear to be similar? Explain how you know.  

9 figures as follows: A, square, B, right triangle, C, diamond, D, right triangle, E triangle with equal sides. F, large square, G, horizontal rectangle, H, obtuse triangle, I, Vertical rectangle. Your teacher will provide you with a model.

Similar figures have the same shape but are not necessarily the same size.

The measures of corresponding angles are equal and the lengths of corresponding sides are proportional.

Which shapes have the same number of sides? Which shapes have all equal angle measurements?

A and F are similar because both shapes are squares. Now try and find at least other pairs of shapes that are similar.
