There are two ways to solve this. You can substitute the slope for $m$ in the equation below, substitute the $x$ and $y$ coordinates of the given point for $x$ and $y$ , and then solve for $b$ .

$y=mx+b$

You can also graph the point $(10,9)$ , use the slope to graph a second point, draw the line, and find the $y$ -intercept.

$y=\frac{1}{5}x+7$
