4-28.

Examine the graphs of each relation below. Decide if each is a function. Then describe the domain and range of each.

  1. 4 petal flower, centered at the origin, each petal extends from the center 3, up, right, down, and left.

Is there more than one output value for a single input value? If so, it is not a function.

Determine the possible -values to find the domain and the possible -values to find the range.

    It is not a function.
    R:

  1. On a 4 quadrant coordinate plane the curved graph starts at the point (negative 2, comma negative 2), curves up and to the right through the origin. The graph turns at the point (2, comma 2) and continues downward to the point (3, comma 0).

Is there more than one output value for a single input value? If so, it is not a function.

Determine the possible -values to find the domain and the possible -values to find the range.

    It is a function.
