6-74.

Solve each equation.

1.  $6(2x−5)=−(x+4)$

Use the Distributive Property to simplify the equation and solve for $x$.

1.  $(x+1)(x−7)=(x-1)(x+3)$

Use a generic rectangle to multiply.

$x^2 − 6x − 7 = x^2 + 2x − 3$

$x = -\frac{1}{2}$
