  1. Solve the following equations for x. Homework Help ✎

    1. 4x − 6y = 20

    2. (x − 6) = 9

    3. + = 8

    4. 2 + = 5

Your answer will be an equation with y in it.

Try multiplying both sides of the equation by 2 first.

Multiply both sides of the equation by the common denominator.

x = 2.5

Start by subtracting 2 from both sides. Then remember that equations with absolute value usually have two solutions.

x = 3 or 0
