1. $y=mx+b$ for x

Refer to part (c) of problem 1-37 (Lesson 1.1.3).

2. $A=\pi r^2$ for r

Divide both sides by π.

$\frac{A}{\pi}=r^2$

Take the square root of both sides.

$\sqrt{\frac{A}{\pi}}=r$

3. $V=LHW$ for W

To solve for W divide both sides of the equation by (LH).

4. $2x+\frac{1}{y}=3$ for y

Subtract 2x from both sides.

$\frac{1}{y}=-2x+3$

Multiply by y on both sides.

$1=y(3−2x)$

How can you get y by itself?

$\frac{1}{3-2x}=y$
