Write the inverse equation for each of the following equations.

1. $y=3x−8$

Interchange $x\ \text{and}\ y$. Then solve your inverse (new) equation for $y$.

$x = 3y-8$

$x+8=3y$

$\frac{x + 8}{3} = y \text{ or}$

$y = \frac{1}{3}(x+8) \text{ or}$

$y = \frac{1}{3}x + \frac{8}{3}$

2. $y = \frac { 1 } { 2 } x + 6$

$y=2(x−6)$

$\text{or}\ y=2x−12$

3. $y = \frac { x + 6 } { 2 }$

$y=2x−6$
