This problem is a checkpoint for finding the x‑ and y‑intercepts of a quadratic function. It will be referred to as Checkpoint 7A.

Find the x‑ and y‑intercepts for the graph of $y = x^{2} + 4x – 17$ without using a graphing calculator.

Check your answers by referring to the Checkpoint 7A materials located at the back of your book.
