For each equation below, find $y$ if $x=-3$ .

$y=-\frac{1}{3}x-5$
Hint (a):
Substitute $−3$ for $x$ and solve for $y$ .
Answer (a):
$\begin{array}{l} y=-\frac{1}{3}x-5\\ y=-\frac{1}{3}(-3)-5\\ y=1-5=-4 \end{array}$

$y=2x^2-3x-2$
Hint (b):
The square of a negative number is always a positive number.
Answer (b):
$y=25$

$2x-5y=4$
Answer (c):
$y=-2$
