3-31.

Solve each equation below. Show all work and check your answer. Homework Help ✎

1. $\frac{14}{5}=\frac{x}{3}$

Multiply both sides by the lowest common denominator.

$\left(\frac{14}{5} = \frac{x}{3}\right)(15)$

$14\cdot3 = x\cdot5$

Solve for $x$.

$42 = 5x$

$x=8.4$

Check your answer.

If $x=8.4$, then $\frac{14}{5}=\frac{8.4}{3}$

$2.8 = 2.8$

1. $\frac{10}{m}=\frac{5}{11}$

$m=22$

1. $\frac{t-2}{12}=\frac{7}{8}$

When finding the product of the lowest common denominator and a binomial, remember to distribute to both terms.

1. $\frac{x+1}{5}=\frac{x}{3}$
