This problem is a checkpoint for solving proportional equations and similar figures. It will be referred to as Checkpoint 6.

  1. Sam grew inches in months. If he continued at the same rate, how much would he grow in one year?

  2. A triangle with a parallel line drawn inside to create a smaller internal triangle. The internal triangle has side lengths of x, 4, and 3. The parallel segments are the bases for both triangles. The internal base is, 4, the outer triangle base is, 12. Another side for the outer triangle is 8 + x which includes the, x, side from the smaller internal triangle.Use the figure at right to solve for .
