Solve each equation below. Check your solution.

1. $20-6\left(5+2x\right)=10-2x$

Combine like terms after distributing.

1. $2x^2-9x-5=0$

If you find it difficult to factor, try using the Quadratic Formula.

1. $\frac{3}{5x-1}=\frac{1}{x+1}$

First, multiply both sides by the lowest common denominator.

$x = 2$

1. $\left|2x-1\right|=5$

$\begin{array}{r} 2x - 1 = 5 \\ 2x = 6 \\ x = 3 \end{array}$

or

$\begin{array}{r} 2x - 1 = -5 \\ 2x = -4 \\ x = -2 \end{array}$
