Use what you know about transformations of functions to sketch graphs of the following functions. Verify that your graphs are correct on your graphing calculator.

First think about the parent graph. Then shift and stretch accordingly. Remember, asymptotes and holes will move with the graph.

1. $y = (x - 2)^2 + 1$

2. $y =\frac { 1 } { 2 }(x - 1) - 5$

3. $y = -| x - 4 |– 6$

4. $y = 2^{x+1} + 3$

5. State the domain and range of the function in part (d). Then state the domain and range of its inverse.

The inputs and outputs of inverse functions switch. In other words, the domain and range switch.

6. Which of the functions above have inverses that are not functions?
Explain how you know.
