3-136.

Solve each equation by first rewriting the expressions in each part with the same base. Refer to problem 3‑132 if you need a reminder. Homework Help ✎

1. $\quad 8 ^ { x } = 2 ^ { 6 }$

• Since 8 = 23, (23)x = 26

2(3x) = 26

3x = 6

x = 2

1. $9 ^ { 2 } = 3 ^ { 2 x + 1 }$

• (32)2 = 32x+1

x = 1.5

1. $4 ^ { 2 x } = ( \frac { 1 } { 2 } ) ^ { x + 5 }$

• Use the same method as part (a).

$\text{Remember that }\frac{1}{2}=2^{-1}.$
