If for a certain function, $f(x) = 9,$ find the following values.

1. $f ( x ) + 3$

• Since we know the value of $f(x)$ in this instance is $9$, substitute $9$ in for $f(x)$.

1. $\quad 2 f ( x )$

• Substituting $9$ in for $f(x)$ gives $2\cdot 9 = 18$.

1. $2 f ( x ) + 3$

• Use what you learned in part (a) and (b). Pay attention to the Order of Operations!
