Antoine works in the paint department at his local hardware store. He is trying to create a new color of paint using two different colors in stock: powder blue, which is made with $2\%$ blue (the rest is white), and spring blue, which is $10\%$ blue (the rest is white). He wants to end up with one gallon of paint made with $4\%$ blue. How much of each color should he use?

Hint:

Let $p =$ the amount of powder blue paint and $y =$ the amount of spring blue paint. Write and solve a system of equations.

Hint (2):

One equation says that the total amount of paint used equals one gallon.
The other equation represents the percents of the mixture: $0.02x + 0.1y = 0.04(1)$
