2-65.

Calculate $f (−3)$ for each function below.

1. $f(x) = −2x + 3$

Substitute $−3$ for $x$ and then simplify.

1. $f(x) = 4^x$

Substitute $−3$ for $x$ and then simplify.

$f(-3)=4^{-3}$

$f(-3)=\frac{1}{4^{3}}$

1. $f(x) = x^{−2} + 1$

See Hint for part (a).

1. $f(x) = \frac{1}{2}x + 2$

See Hint for part (a).

$\frac{1}{2}$
