3-118.

Copy the diagrams below on graph paper. Then find the result when each indicated transformation is performed.

  1. Reflect A across line .
A horizontal line, l, is the line of reflection. The figure A starts 1 unit above l. Draw up 4, then diagonally left, 6, and down, 1. Then draw diagonally right 1, and down, 3. Then draw diagonally up 1 and right 3. Then down 1, and right 2 to enclose figure A.

  1. Rotate B counterclockwise about point P.
P is the point of rotation. Figure B starts two units up and 3 units left of P. From the start, draw diagonally down 4, & right 1. Then draw diagonally down 2, left 2. Then draw diagonally up 4, left 1. Finally, draw diagonally up 2 and right 2 to enclose Figure B.

  1. Rotate C about point Q.
Q is the point of rotation. Figure C starts 3 units up from Q. From the start, draw diagonally up 1, & right 3. Then draw diagonally down 2, right 2. Then right, 2. Then draw diagonally down 4, left 4. Then, up, 2. Finally, draw diagonally up 3 and left 3 to enclose Figure C.

  1. Reflect D across line .
A diagonal line, m, with a slope of negative 1, is the line of reflection. The figure D starts 4 units above a point on, m. From the start, draw diagonally right, 7, and down, 2. Then draw down, 3. Then draw diagonally up 1 and left 5. Then diagonally up 4, and left 2 to enclose figure D.
