1-5.

On graph paper, graph line $\overleftrightarrow{MU}$ for $M(-1,\ 1)$ and $U(4,\ 5)$.

1. Calculate the slope of $\overleftrightarrow{MU}$, then write an equation for the line.

Draw a slope triangle.

2. Calculate $MU$ (the distance from $M$ to $U$).

Use your slope triangle to calculate $MU$.

3. Are there any similarities to the calculations used in parts (a) and (b)?  Any differences?

One is a ratio (slope) while the other is a length (distance).
