Solve each equation below for $x$. Check your solutions if possible.

1. $\frac { 4 } { 5 }x - 2 = 7$

Combine like terms on one side of the equation.

To eliminate a fraction, multiply both sides by its reciprocal.

1. $3x^2 = 300$

With squared variables, there may be more than one answer.

$x = -10$ or $x = 10$

1. $\frac { 4 x - 1 } { 2 } = \frac { x + 5 } { 3 }$

$x = 1.3$

1. $x^2 - 4x + 6 = 0$
