Rewrite each statement below into conditional (“If …, then …”) form. Then state whether it is true or false. If it is false, modify the conclusion to make the statement true.

1. The area of a rectangle with base $x$ and height $2x$ is $2x^2$.

If a rectangle has base $x$ and height $2x$, then the area is $2x^2$.

2. The perimeter of a rectangle with base $x$ and height $3y$ is $3xy$.

If a rectangle has base $x$ and height $3y$, then the perimeter is $3xy$. False. If a rectangle has base $x$ and height $3y$, then the perimeter is$2x + 6y$.

3. A rectangle with base $2$ feet and height $3$ feet has an area of $864$ square inches.
