Copy these Diamond Problems and use the pattern you discovered earlier, shown at right, to complete each of them. Some of these may be challenging!

Generic Diamond Problem. One number, X, is located on the left side. The second number, Y, is located on the right side.  The bottom number is the sum of the two numbers, X and Y. The top number is the product of the two numbers, X and Y.

  1. Diamond Problem. Left 7, Right blank, Top minus 98,  Bottom blank

    Look at the pattern. You have and . How can you use those to fill in the rest of the diamond?

    To find the top answer, multiply the two given numbers. To find the bottom answer add the two given numbers.
