Pentagon S, M, I, L, E is graphed. Connect the points S (negative 2, comma 1), M (0, comma negative 2), I (3, comma negative 3), L (4, comma 0), and E (1, comma 2). Then connect to, S, to enclose the figure.Examine pentagon at right. Do any of its sides have equal length? How do you know? Be sure to provide convincing evidence. You might want to copy the figure onto graph paper.  

Draw a slope triangle for each side of the pentagon. Now can you determine the lengths of the sides?

By the Pythagorean Theorem, if the corresponding legs of two right triangles are congruent, then their hypotenuses will be congruent.
