For each equation below, solve for $w$. Show all work.

1. $5w^2 = 17$

Divide both sides of the equation by $5$.

$w\ =\ \pm \sqrt{\frac{17}{5}}\ \approx \pm 1.84$

1. $5w^2 - 3w - 17 = 0$

$x=\frac{-b\pm \sqrt{b^2-4ac}}{2a}$

1. $2w^2 = -6$
