Let $p = 2 + 5i$ and $q=3-4i$. Calculate the following values and write them in $a + bi$ form.

1. $p + q$

$(2+5i)+(3-4i)$

$(2+3)+(5i-4i)$

$5 + i$

1. $p-q$

Use the same method as part (a). Use parentheses and do not forget to distribute the minus sign.

1. $p · q$

Remember that $i^2=-1.$

Use an area model to multiply.

$26 + 7i$
