The $x$-intercepts of a quadratic function are given in each part below. Write a possible equation for each function in standard form.

1. $x =\frac { 3 } { 4 }$, $x = -2$

Work backwards: Use the Zero Product Property to write an equation in factored form, then multiply to write the equation in standard form.

$y = (4x - 3)(x + 2)=4x^2 + 5x - 6$

1. $x = -\sqrt { 5 }$, $x =\sqrt { 5 }$

Work backwards as was suggested in part (a).

$y = x^2 - 5$
