1. The height of a baseball thrown from centerfield to home plate in relation to the distance from the centerfield.

What should be the shape of a graph representing an object under gravity?

The graph should be a parabola. Be sure to label your axes.

2. The number of shoppers at the mall each hour during business hours on a given day.

The amount of shoppers can vary greatly depending on the time of day. What times do you think most people are able to shop at the mall? These times should have the highest points on the graph.

3. The temperature of a cup of coffee $x$ minutes after being poured.

Will the temperature increase or decrease in this situation? What will be the minimum temperature of the coffee?
