9-34.

Simplify each of the following expressions. Be sure that your answer has no negative or fractional exponents.

1. $(\frac { 1 } { 16 })^{-1/4}$

$(16)^{1/4}$

$\sqrt[4]{16}$

1. $x^{-1}y^{-3}$

The negative exponents mean you will be writing the reciprocals of the factors.

$\frac{1}{xy^3}$

1. $(25x^4)^{1/2}$

This is equivalent to:  $\sqrt{25x^{4}}$
