4-110.

Solve each equation below for the indicated variable. Homework Help ✎

1. $y=mx+b$ for $m$

$y - b = mx$

$\frac{y - b} x = m$

1. $C=2\pi r$ for $r$

Divide both sides by $2\pi$.

$\frac{c}{2 \pi} = r$

1. $V=LHW$ for $L$

To solve for $L$ divide both sides of the equation by ($HW$).

1. $\frac{1}{y}-3x=7$ for $y$

Add $3x$ to both sides.

$\frac{1}{y} = 3x + 7$

Multiply by $y$ on both sides.

$1 = y(3x + 7)$

How can you get $y$ by itself?

$\frac{1}{7 + 3x} = y$
