5-26.
1. Write the equation of the inverse for each of the following functions. Homework Help ✎

1. f(x) = 3x – 8

2. f(x) = x + 6

This function multiplies by 3 then subtracts 8. How can these operations be undone?

$\text{Add 8 }f^{-1}(x) = x+8$

$\text{Divide by 3 }f^{-1}(x)=\frac{x + 8}{3}$

f −1(x) = 2(x − 6) or
f −1(x) = 2x − 12

f −1(x) = 2x − 6
