   Step (a):

   $-2=-\frac{1}{2}(5)+b$

   Solve this equation for b.

2. A line through the points $(1,4)$ and $(3,0)$.

   Step (b):

   $m=\frac{4-0}{1-3}$

   This is the slope. Now follow the steps in part (a).
