1-115.

Rewrite each expression using the properties of exponents.

1. $(2^2)^x$

22x

1. $(2^{-5})^4$

$2^{-20}$

1. $\left(\frac{2}{3}\right)^{-1}$

What does the negative exponent mean?

$\frac{1}{\Big(\frac{2}{3}\Big)^1}$

1. $\left(\frac{2}{3}\right)^{-2}$

This is the same as part (c), but the exponent is a $2$.
